The future Swampscott Rail Trail will be a 10-foot-wide path that will run the length of the former railroad line (running from the active MBTA commuter rail line to the Marblehead town line). The exact location of the path within the corridor (which ranges in width from 40 feet to 80+ feet) will be determined when the project moves into the design/engineering phase.

The map here provides context of the future Swampscott Rail Trail and how it will connect to the network of existing (and future) trails of our neighboring communities.
