The future Swampscott Rail Trail will be a 10-foot-wide path that will run the within the former railroad and current utility corridor from Stetson Avenue to the Marblehead town line. The exact location of the path within the corridor (which ranges in width from 35 feet to 115+ feet) will be determined during the design/engineering phase.
The map here provides context of the future Swampscott Rail Trail and how it will connect to the network of existing (and future) trails of our neighboring communities. Also note that the Swampscott Rail Trail passes three of our schools and has three direct connections to public transportation.
